Kenwood Multi-Protocol
Digital Radios
We sell Kenwood handheld and truck mount commercial radios compatible with the EVR mine sites NXDN communications systems.
When purchasing a radio for use on a mine site, we will program with all EVR mine channels at no extra cost.
If you will be working in one of the plants, we offer UHF radios for use indoors.
If you will be working in areas with dangerous concentrations of flammable gases or dust we offer intrinsically safe (IS) radios for sale or rent.
Analog Radios
If you are looking for two-way radios for analog or recreational use, we carry Kenwood and ICOM models for that purpose.
All radios we sell come tuned, assembled and programmed with regional channels such as RRs, LDs, LADDs, and local logging frequencies.
We install mobile radios at our shop. Please call to book a time or to get a quote. If you have several vehicles needing install or heavy equipment on site, we can often send technicians to your location to complete the installs.
Radio Rentals
If you need a radio for short term usage, or for ongoing contract work, we offer handheld and mobile (truck mount) radios for rent on a weekly or monthly basis. These radios can be used for recreational purposes or on EVR mine sites. If you require access to private channels or repeater channels, we can add them. Please note there may be an additional cost for access to private or repeater channels. Rental costs start at $35 plus taxes.

Emergency Vehicle Deployment
We work with several emergency services teams in the East Kootenays to outfit their vehicles with everything they need to respond, such as emergency lighting, PA systems, radio fleet management and deployments systems, and more!
Wide-Area Repeater Coverage
Looking for a wide-area LMR coverage area? Need your own channel to communicate on? We have several active repeater sites ready to go to service the East Kootenays!
Servicing & Repair
If you need a radio serviced we have an in-house repair technician who can take a look at your two-way and let you know what it might need to get it functioning properly again.

Authorized Telus Mobility Dealer
We have two staff members trained as Telus sevice reps that can assist you with your Telus Mobility phone plans and new phone purchases.
We are able to service EPP accounts for employees of EVR, Interior Health, School District 5, and more.

Started by Karl Ehrler back in the 1970s, Sparwood Communications was originally called “Sparwood Radio and TV” where Karl offered repair services to televisions and AM/FM radios and amateur radio equipment. The business evolved and in the 1990s became known as Sparwood Communications. We have grown to be one of the largest Kenwood Radio dealers in Western Canada.
